Relay For Life Launceston

Relay For Life is a fun and moving experience that raises vital funds for the Cancer

Council’s research, prevention and supportive care services. Relay is a chance for the

community to recognise and celebrate local cancer survivors, those going through a cancer

experience and their carers, to honour and remember loved ones lost and to raise money to

help save more lives.

This inspirational, overnight event empowers and unites local communities to fight cancer

together. Relay For Life began in Tasmania in 2001 and is Cancer Council Tasmania’s biggest annual fundraiser.

Relay is more than just a fundraising event, it’s an experience like no other. Bringing the community together for the communal cause to fit back against cancer bonds corporate communities with employees, businesses with their consumers, school teachers with students and their

parents, and local government with everyday people. Each year in Launceston 1000+

participants come together with family, friends and colleagues to fight back against cancer

and show the world that hope lives within Tasmanian communities.

Our many teams raise funds throughout the year, then gather as a community on one weekend to walk around a track in a relay-style overnight experience. This is a poignant reminder that cancer doesn’t sleep, so neither do we.
