Wallaby Walkabout Tours provides three guided walking tours that have a focus on Launceston's iconic Cataract Gorge.
The Cataract Gorge walking tour, which begins at the Basin Cottage, is a 2.5 hour easy walk around the First Basin/Picnic Grounds areas.
The Zig Zag Tour is a 3 hour walking tour that starts at the Bridge St entrance to the Zig Zag Track. It then winds its way up to the top of the cliffs taking in some of the notable sites along the way, including the 'Hydro House' and the magnificent views of the mountains. The walk then proceeds down into the First Basin area and then loops over to finish in the Picnic Grounds.
The Waddamanna Tour is a full day guided walking tour that begins by going through parts of the Cataract Gorge and then takes in the bushland of the Trevallyn Reserve. As you walk through the bush you will find out about Aboriginal sites in the area before stopping for a bbq lunch and a cultural session where you can create your own mementos.
All tours will show you how to identify natural bush foods/resources and highlight Aboriginal cultural connections to the areas visited.
