Wood artist John Tobin has been practising the 3 Dimensional inlay carving craft of “Intarsia” for more than 40 years. From small boxes, mirrors and carvings, John’s work is amongst the most beautiful and original woodcraft being produced in Tasmania. John's work can only be viewed and is sold from his showroom in Windermere Tasmania.
John uses all of the Tasmanian timber as well as Mainland species to create woodcraft that can take anywhere from a few hours to nine months to complete. Inlay work is cut using a scroll saw and carving is completed using only a Stanley knife and sandpaper.
