Heritage Train Journey
Step back in history and climb aboard a majestic Heritage train. Journey deep into the heritage of the wild West Coast, where tales of resilience and triumph showcase the iconic local spirit. RACK and GORGE JOURNEY Enjoy a half day steam train return trip from Queenstown to Dubbil Barril, stopping at several remote stations to disembark and experience the heritage and environment of this unique rainforest. Pan for gold at Lynchford Station, grab a bite to eat at the Rinadeena Station kiosk and take a short walk through the rainforest at Dubbil Barril before returning to Queenstown in the afternoon. RIVER TO RAINFOREST JOURNEY Climb aboard a heritage diesel train and soak up the stunning views of Macquarie Harbour as you travel along the foreshore from Regatta Point Station in Strahan. As you enter the rainforest, you'll follow the course of the King River to Teepookana - once the fourth busiest port in Tasmania, and the place where construction of the railway first began. Disembark at Lower Landing and Dubbil Barril stations and take in the sights and smells of the cool temperate rainforest. Taste local forest honey and take a walk through the rainforest to admire endemic rainforest flora and appreciate the tenacity and resilience of the railway builders and workers that came before us. Head back onboard and return to Strahan in the afternoon.
